Supporting the library challenge

Since the browser in which I do most of my blogging has been crashing on me every time I enter it, I’ve taken the opportunity to catch up on some of my reading. I’ve even joined GoodReads, to help organize what I’m reading and I’ve read. It’s while updating my current reading status that I stumbled across some reading challenges. One particular challenge I happen to be doing already (didn’t know it was a challenge!). Since it’s not too late to join, according to the web site, I am with this post.

The Challenge: Support Your Local Library Book Challenge 2009
What to do? [be the first to] Read 12, 25, or 50 books [from the library].
I’ve chosen: 50 books (because I’m nearing the halfway point already ~grin~)
Date of challenge: All of 2009 (to Dec. 31st)

Of course, because I’m joining late, I don’t really expect to win, but I’m still playing, for it’s a good cause, anyway. And, like I’ve said, I’m already reading via my library card. 😀

My Reading List:
[1]The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon

[2]The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards.

[3]The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao by Junot Diaz
[4]1)The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith

[18]6)#1 Ladies… In the Company of Cheerful Ladies by Alexander McCall Smith
[19] (currently reading) 7)#1 Ladies… Blue Shoes and Happiness by Alexander McCall Smith

To Be Read (I’ll update/add count as I read to keep things semi-organized):
8)#1 Ladies… The Good Husband of Zebra Drive by Alexander McCall Smith
9)#1 Ladies… The Miracle of Speedy Motors by Alexander McCall Smith
10)#1 Ladies… Tea Time for the Traditionally Built by Alexander McCall Smith
The Time Traveler’s Wife by Audrey Niffennegger
The Twilight Saga (#1-#4)
The Reader by Bernhard Schlink
The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown
The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold
And, leaving some space for whatever I find on the new releases. I usually find at least one book each library visit.

When is the last time you visited your local library? What did you read? If you can’t remember, maybe it’s time to make a trip again. 😉

Happy reading, all.

In search of a good word or two

The purpose of this blog entry is simple: I think I’m delicious and want to be Noshed.

What??? :O

I’m referring to the site Blog Nosh, which is basically a collection of some of the best, entertaining or informative blog entries on the web at a given moment. What makes me think I’m good enough for such an honor? I have absolutely no idea, except I have the drive and think I do good stuff…occasionally, sometimes, errm…well, I can do good, I know I can. Really. 😉

I’m cherry-picking my poetic blog entries right now…maybe, just maybe I have a chance there. Maybe?
|| I’ve narrowing it down the the following:

What do you think? I’ve made a vote poll to help decide:

Of course, you’re welcome to add your own choice, and/or comment as to what you’re thinking. Or, if nothing else, leave a name of a good therapist for my delusional head. 😀
Thanks for your indulgence. I less-than-3 you for it! ( ❤ )

P is for Pear Lady!

Recently, I was tagged with the name meme by a friend on Facebook. I got such a kick out of it that over to my blog it had to come. Consider yourself forewarned on this one: it’s a tricky bugger to play depending on your name. One of my friends (of whom I tagged) called it the “evil meme”, though she ended up doing quite well, too, as I predicted. LOL Anyway, here we go…

P is for Pear Lady!!!

Rules: It’s harder than it looks! Copy to your own note, erase my answers, enter yours, and tag 10 people. Use the first letter of your name to answer each of the following questions. They have to be real. . .nothing made up! If the person before you had the same first initial, you must use different answers. You cannot use any word twice and you can’t use your name for the boy/girl name question.

1. What is your name: Pear Lady
2. A four Letter Word: play
3. A boy’s Name: Peter
4. A girl’s Name: Penelope
5. An occupation: physician
6. A color: purple
7. Something you wear: pants
8. A food: peas
9. Something found in the bathroom: powder
10. A place: prairie
11. A reason for being late: pulled a hamstring
12. Something you shout: puh-leeze!
13. A movie title: Parenthood
14. Something you drink: Perrier
15. A musical group: Planet P Project (more on band? check out the song: “Why Me“)
16. An animal: puppy
17. A street name: Peach
18. A type of car: pick-up truck

Now it’s your turn!

For reading this far, consider yourself tagged. Copy / paste above, erase my answers, and insert your own according to your own name / handle.
(you can use the comments section here, or your own blog.)

Oh, and link back here so we can all see. 😀

30 Days hath April and it’s time to party!

Dear NaBloPoMo,

Hah! I’ve conquered you once again. We’ve had a whole month of posting with the letters theme. Actually, I have one to boot. Double-score! And, those of you thought I could not do it…*sticks tongue out and singsongs laughter at you: “hah-ha-hah-ha-haa-haa!”* Seriously, I’ve enjoyed this theme, and appreciate Eden / NaBloPoMo for getting me into this mess, even if it’s been trying at times (to say the least – LOL). And, I really appreciate my visitors that have come by and endured my rambles on a daily basis. Today also wraps up National Poetry Month. I feel it only fitting to end this letter post with some poetry.

Thirty days of posting with a letters theme
Oh how I’ve loved entertaining you
May is next, I’ve not a clue what to do now
Any ideas you have, please give them below [after all]
Your input is very important to me!

Okay, so it’s not Shakespeare this time, but it’s definitely earnest with its request. 😉

Hope your April showers bring you lots of flowers this month of May!

G’night, snidybutts! (and, everyone else, too…oh, how I like my Boston Legal television show. That “word” was hurled at one of my favorite characters on that show tonight. Love it! LOL!)

X is for…Oh, me, oh my!

X is for exhausted, phonetically speaking. It appears we’re consumed with sleep on this planet, and the human race cannot get enough of it. Whether one has the ability to “power nap” -as both the democratic politicians claim to do-, or choose to sleep for longer periods (remember doctors saying it should be eight hours?), how much we get certainly affects what we can do during other hours.

Where am I going with this? IDK, I’m tired and I’m testy. ;P So, I am venting. (watch out for high winds) In that regard, I triple dog dare you not to do the yawn while watching one or more of these videos.

Click the video and stay awake…remember…stay awake

Is this one encouraging to the future…or just downright apt to give nightmares?

It’s contagious!

So, how’d you do? Let me know, toss a pillow at me, whatever (within reason, of course – I reserve the right to toss back! hah).
G’night to all of y’all.
