Fun Monday

It’s another fun monday posting, this time hosted by on of my crazed Elvis blogpal, Nikki…so, I’m posting at an unusual time, to make sure I get this one on time. By the way, if / when you get a chance, drop by her blog and give some cheer. I’ve a feeling she could use it well, as she’s kind of ailing with a horrid sinus infection at the moment.

Warning:
Due to technical problems, this post may look stranger than normal, and possibly riddled with errors thanks to a funky keyboard. Ahhh, well…thank goodness for it, anyhow!

The topic: write a short poem, then whip out the crayons, markers, etc. to illustrate it.

“breakdown”

what’s that smell
ack, not the computer
say it’s not so
pull out the back-up
oh no, how slow
(and, much less cuter than apollo ohno)
the dial-up connection sucks
so does an ailing spacebar
how i wish things didn’t break down
all at one freaking time
almost like someone’s saying
it’s crap on me day
and, all i wanna do is
yell, quit picking on me!

And, to illustrate the point…here’s a little something from my paint program…

That’s it for now. As Elvis would say, ‘thank you, thank you very much, and g’nite!’

Playing Catch-Up

Whoops! I missed Fun Monday this week. It’s being held by Willowtree, and, I totally had the topic covered. No matter, I’m blogging anyway (you’ll see why in the next paragraph).

I found some more great sights with my little camera this week. First up, this box found at a shop in League City, Texas.

They’re ceramic angels by a company called “Willowtree”. Of course, it reminded me of a certain Aussie blogger instead, so I snapped a photo.
Side thought: If that’s not enought to get me focusing on this blogger, I had a dish called “chicken on the barbie”, which is essentially spicy, barbequed chicken, this week.  So, he’s stuck in my head, for better or worse at the moment. Calgon, help me! LOL  😛
~~~
Another photo is a cup I found at a restaurant.
growing old cup
I snapped the pic for the quote on the cup appealed to me. “Growing old is enevitable / Growing up is optional.” The saying appears to mesh with the “child at heart” philosophy, which is a nice thought (even if responsibilities in life make it sometimes untrue).
Wil Wheaton reminded me of this in one of his blog entries this week, entitled “just like heaven“. In the entry, he mentions remembering such favorites as “getting a drink from the hose” and having “bomb pops”, both I too remember with fondness. In fact, thinking of a bomb pop kind of makes me hungry – yum. What wonderful memories to recall, especially when one’s not feeling quite so wonderful some days. I think that’s why I like looking at “child of the eighties” memes and such, as it reminds me of happier (and ultimately simpler) times.
I end this entry on that happy note. As a local media personality might say, were he a blogger,
Have a good day, y’all. Good blogging, reading, game-playing, or whatever makes you happy!
🙂
PS. bonus points for those readers that actually know to which the media person to which I’m referring. ;P
Fun Monday …
Well, it’s here again…yet another manic fun Monday….this time spent over at Robin’s webhome.
Hostess: Robin, @ the Pensieve
The challenge:  Why I’m putting the FUN(NY) in Fun Monday! Bloggers are notorious exhibitionists…we bare our hearts…we bare our souls…and sometimes…SOMETIMES…we bare our faces.  It’s not your face I’m interested in, though…it’s YOUR HAIR!  Pull out your old photo albums and find your WORST “BAD HAIR DAY” EVAH!  If you’re the unfortunate soul who has more than one, well then, post as many as you’re willing.
As a kid, I liked to dress up my dolls, including their hair (poor things).  This action was usually followed with piling them into my dump truck (or barbie car, or something), and taking them for a ride. Anyway, back to the hair…
Here’s Jennifer Doll…
She shares love to the world, as you can see in the picture. From where I got the name is unclear, the popular [name] undoubtedly giving way to originality. She’s still cute to me, and she’s cherished in my memory banks.
Fun Monday …
Whoa…almost passed up another Fun Monday…and how could I not participate with Bethany taking charge this week. 🙂
So, here we go again.
Hostess: Bethany – IceCreamMama
The Challenge: A Q&A with host James Lipton of Inside the Actor’s Studio
James Lipton presents the star ten questions:
  • What is your favorite word?
          “Dingleberry” (that’s one…I like making up words…ha-ha)
  • What is your least favorite word?
          “I hate __” specifically regarding a racist’s hatred
  • What turns you on (creatively, spiritually or emotionally)?
           “Books, paintings, or perhaps a relaxing walk through nature”
  • What turns you off?
          “Someone tossing their cookies (throwing up)…” I get so sympathetic, I end up doing it, too.
  • What is your favorite curse word?
           I, too, like saying Dingle___ (fill-in-the-blank)…or when I’m being crude, I break out into a little Fatal Attraction, saying “shit, shit, shit”. Though, if/when I say the proverbial “F-word” watch out, and back away. 😛
  • What sound or noise do you love?
           “A good laugh”….WITH me, not AT me Or a light, cool rain…maybe thunderstorm if not too dangerous.
  • What sound or noise do you hate?
           “Back to the tossing cookies again…” One word: Ewww.
  • What profession, other than your own, would you like to attempt?
           “Media Editor” reviewing papers, books, etc. I love restoring things, lately expecially web sites (and, pretty decent at it, I hear).
  • What profession would you not like to attempt?
          “Data processing” the 10-key kind…I’m a whiz at the rest of the keyboard, but my numberpad skills are slacking.
  • If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?
          “Come in, my child. You are welcome, and your family and friends are excited to see you again.”
Though I’ve never seen that show, I liked those questions, for the most part. Hope you all liked my answers, too.
Tootle-loo! 🙂
Fun Monday …
I feel like the Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland… “I’m late! I’m late! For a very important date!” Perhaps I’m going through some sort of post-traumatic Easter syndrome….?!?…
Anyway, though it’s late, I’m joining in the Fun Monday again, hosted this week by Amy W.
Hostess: Amy W. / A Family Story
The challenge: The challenge this week was to find something in your closet you are keeping for some ungodly reason (the sweatshirt with all the holes, the jeans your kids used as a drawing table with markers, the shirt with the stain you only hope no one notices) take a picture of it and tell us why you are keeping it and how it got that way.
I have so much of this type of stuff. Though I have donated a bunch in the past, especially recently, it still takes up space in my closet(s). The difficult task is picking one thing. Yes, I’m a bit of a packrat (big surprise…not.).
Here’s one thing I pulled out…
Tshirt ©PearLady,2007
This shirt shows what a sentalmentalist I can be. My high school has a tradition called powder puff football, where the guys and girls basically switch places (kind of like a Sadie Hawkins dance thing). Anyway, we girls played some mean football that day (while the guys cheered us on – literally), and I look upon this shirt with much fondness as I remember back to that crazy time.  I’ve always enjoyed a good football game, and playing was FUN!!!! (even if I did suck @ it…haha)
In other news…
The music download of the moment is courteous of one of my blogrollers, namely WWdn, whom found Polka Floyd, a kind of combination between rock&roll and polka. Strange, but kind of cool. 😀
In sports today, we’ve another Astros win (don’t ask me about sunday’s game, I’m still scowling about it), this time against the Cubbies. Biggio also racked up a couple more hits. AND, Brad Lidge was demoted from being the Astros closer. Yay! Maybe things can go up now…maybe. To use one of my favorite quotes, from Angels in the Outfield, “It could happen“.
That’s all from my front…the ball is in the commenter’s court now.
