The Path from Weekend Wordsmith

OMG, I’m writing poetry again, thanks to one of regular inspirational sources, the Weekend Wordsmith. This week, Rich posted a picture of a Path. I’m not sure why, but here’s where my mind conjured at first look…okay, maybe second look (first look, I thought, “dirty stones” – hah!):

Well-worn path
Where do you go?
If I’d take a trip,
would you lead me astray?
Perhaps, I’d have a
grand adventure.
Maybe I’d end up
at the local store.
Then again, maybe a
bunch of bugs would
eat me up -gasp-
Suddenly, being inside
does not sound so bad.
And yet…I wonder…

Okay, that poem is a bit strange, if I do say so myself. I’m not quite sure if it’s showing depression in me or just childlike dreams…perhaps both. I do know I’ve just finished reading some intense prize-winning books , so my mind could be in total fluff mode. In that case, I think I may be really happy when I get to lay on my pillow tonight. 😀

In search of a good word or two

The purpose of this blog entry is simple: I think I’m delicious and want to be Noshed.

What??? :O

I’m referring to the site Blog Nosh, which is basically a collection of some of the best, entertaining or informative blog entries on the web at a given moment. What makes me think I’m good enough for such an honor? I have absolutely no idea, except I have the drive and think I do good stuff…occasionally, sometimes, errm…well, I can do good, I know I can. Really. 😉

I’m cherry-picking my poetic blog entries right now…maybe, just maybe I have a chance there. Maybe?
|| I’ve narrowing it down the the following:

What do you think? I’ve made a vote poll to help decide:

Of course, you’re welcome to add your own choice, and/or comment as to what you’re thinking. Or, if nothing else, leave a name of a good therapist for my delusional head. 😀
Thanks for your indulgence. I less-than-3 you for it! ( ❤ )

All about the nonsense

Edward Lear
Image via Wikipedia

Bow-chicka-wow-wow! It’s Limericks Day! It’s a day to write/read/say “fun” poems in honor of Edward Lear’s birthday [May 12th], whom wrote all sorts of nonsense. 😉 I’ve enjoyed his writings since before I could analyze them to death [for various literature classes]. So, to celebrate the day, I’ve written some more of my own limericks for us to groan laugh at and love. Enjoy.

A day of limericks, how droll
I’m not sure which way to roll
It’s hard to rhyme, with a certain time,
But, look! I’ve made it through the hole!

Yes, I’ve lots of sports on the brain,
If my team doesn’t win, I might go insane
I watch them play, yelling and cheering all-the-way!
It may not be healthy, but it’s fun just the same.

OMG, I made it. *wipes brow* Happy Rickelime….errm, I mean have a Happy Limericks day!
(and go, Rockets!)

If you’d like to write a limerick, and need some help, let Wiki be your guide by looking at How to Write a Limerick. Do share if you do, so we can all enjoy the fun!

Until later…may you all have some sort of whimsy in your lives. It sure makes things interesting. 😉

A Delicious Wordle

I’ve recently found this great site called a little that allows one to make all sorts of word pictures. A person could even call it a word poem, of sorts. One can create this picture with any text. And, finally I have had a chance to play! This particular one is not just any wordle, it’s about this very blog. Yeah! I simply plugged in my rss feed url, and out it popped.

Here’s A Slice of Delicious Fruit (the Wordle):

(click picture to see a larger view or click here [“psst”: it is a java application, so make sure you have it turned on to see it larger.] )

It’s fantabulous to see all the craziness that’s gone on in this blog recently. Now, we’ve a visual, too. I’ve described my blog as being a sort of “Seinfeld blog”, for it’s about everything and nothing. With the visual data, I think I may have pegged it more than I realized. Very awesome. If you get a chance, I highly recommend you try it. Or, read a few wordles created in their gallery. It can be very illuminating. 😀

I survived another year – gotta celebrate!

Yep, it’s been a whole year since I last blogged about what happened on this day a *cough* while ago. So, excuse me for a moment as I say “Happy Birthday” to myself. *repeats in a whisper: Happy Birthday, self* 😀

(uh-oh…looks like I choose a cake [above] with candles that never go out..I’ll be blowing all night long! heh-heh)

I had a few audible mentions when I went out tonight for dinner, which helped make up for the lack thereof online (*mock-glares at my so-called blog friends* Probably too busy with Fun Monday – LOL). *grin* I went out for a delicious dinner at BJ’s Steakhouse – totally delicious!!! And, they gave me a birthday dessert (for free), too. All the food was totally yummy, the servers were really nice and I highly recommend the place. I even ran into some family friends, which was really cool. All in all, a good day was had–even if I had to work first (hah!)–and exhausted I will fall into a deep sleep tonight I’m sure.

I end this entry with a fun poem that I’ve enjoyed reading (over and over again).

The ABC’s of Aging…

A’s for arthritis;
B’s the bad back,
C’s the chest pains, perhaps car-d-iac?
D is for dental decay and decline,
E is for eyesight, can’t read that top line!
F is for fissures and fluid retention,
G is for gas which I’d rather not mention.
H is high blood pressure–I’d rather it low;
I is for incisions with scars you can show.
J is for joints, out of socket, won’t mend,
K is for knees that crack when they bend.
L is for libido, what happened to sex?
M is for memory, I forget what comes next.
N is neuralgia, in nerves way down low;
O is for osteo, the bones that don’t grow!
P is for prescriptions, I have quite a few, just give me a pill and I’ll be good as new!
Q is for queasy, is it fatal or flu?
R is for reflux, one meal turns to two.
S is for sleepless nights, counting my fears,
T is for Tinnitus; there’s bells in my ears!
U is for urinary; big troubles with flow;
V is for vertigo, that’s “dizzy,” you know.
W is for worry, NOW what’s going ’round?
X is for X ray, and what might be found.
Y is another year I’m left here behind,
Z is for zest that I still have– in my mind.

I’ve survived all the symptoms, my body’s deployed,
And I am keeping twenty-six doctors fully employed!!!

Even though I’m not quite that old (thankfully), it’s still good for a nod, a giggle, and an OMG! moment or two. 😉

Oh, and Happy Birthday also to one of my favorite baseball players, Mr. Adam Cowart. 😀
PS. I’m still plurking pretty regularly…do say “hi” when you stop in for a visit. – click here to plurk (sorry, the widget won’t insert, hence the click-thru).
