Celebrating Chinese New Year in LOLCats style

It’s the beginning of a new year on the Chinese calendar, and I finally figured out a good way to celebrate, thanks to the LOL Cats!

Oh, and to answer the question: why is this post in red? For good Fu to my readers (the color red is good luck).

Resolving to have a Happy New Year

I’m not a person that really makes official “New Year’s Resolutions”, however I’ve had fun with them in the past. What can one really vow to accomplish but to “do better in _____”[fill-in-the-blank with whatever task one wants to accomplish at the moment]?  In that regard, Rex Barker of Joke-of-the-day.com has once again given out some great resolutions that go along with my kind of thinking (scary that it may be at times). Feel free to pull up a chair with me as I go through them.

Alternative Affirmations for the New Year…

1. As I let go of my feelings of guilt, I am in touch with my inner sociopath. (Because whom doesn’t  love my demonic side of life – muhahaha!)

2. I have the power to channel my imagination into ever-soaring levels of suspicion and paranoia.  (for it makes for more interesting stories to share)

3. I assume full responsibility for my actions, except the ones that are someone else’s fault. (why the heck would I want that extra burden? I’ve enough of my own, thank-you-very-much. *sarcastic grin*)

4. In some cultures what I do would be considered normal. (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. *sticks out tongue*)

5. My intuition nearly makes up for my lack of wisdom and judgment. (actually, it’s quite frightening at times, but we won’t go there right now.)

6. I need not suffer in silence while I can still moan, whimper, and complain. (for that’s why I have a blog, right? LOL)

7. When someone hurts me, I know that forgiveness is cheaper than a lawsuit, but not nearly as rewarding. ($$$$=pretty-green-stuff Money may be the root of all evil, but it sure helps out sometimes to better us all.)

8. I am at one with my duality. (Because it makes me twice as much fun…ha-ha!)

9. Blessed are the flexible, for they can tie themselves in knots. (Ever do a pretzel with a broomstick?)

10. I will strive to live each day as if it were my 50th birthday. (or 5th birthday depending on how flexible I’m feeling that day. LOL)

11. I honor and express all facets of my being, regardless of state and local laws.

12. Today I will gladly share my experience and advice, for there are no sweeter words than “I told you so!” 😉

13. A scapegoat is almost as good as a solution. (hmm…solutions…reminds me of Chemistry…ah, I like those thoughts, especially of Organic Chemistry.)

14. Just for today, I will not sit in my living room all day in my underwear. Instead, I will move my computer into the bedroom. (That’s why laptops come in really handy.)

15. I will no longer waste my time reliving the past; I will spend it worrying about the future? (Amen.)

16. The complete lack of evidence is the surest proof that the conspiracy is working. (I don’t know why, but George Michael’s “Faith” just popped in my head…oh, my.)

17. Before I criticize a man, I walk a mile in his shoes. That way, if he gets angry, he’s a mile away and barefoot.

Whew! Resolutions are done for the moment. Happy New Year to you all!
See you next year! 😉

It’s Time To Celebrate

The fact that I’m back for … The Greatest Time of the Year!
–with help from the cast of Harry Potter and a creative YouTube montage creator 😀
An early Happy Christmas to everyone! And, to those people not celebrating, may you have a Happy Day, too! 😀

Share Your Holidays

It’s once again time to get in the spirit of the holidays. So far, all I’ve done really is put up lights. (yeah, I know…lazy me, but they do look neat – well, I and the neighbors think so anyway). Another sort of tradition is volunteering one’s time and goods (canned, clothed, and toy) to a local shelter. For my part, I’ve donated my efforts to an event called “Share Your Holidays“, a local food drive (and some toys/miscellaneous items), though i don’t really think of it as just doing a duty because it’s usually a lot of fun. 😀

(extra tidbit: it used to be called “Share your Christmas”, then the politically correct gurus took charge and changed the name. But, luckily, it’s the same concept.)

If anyone is near the Houston area, I encourage you to come out and give anything you can, even if just a can beans or offering some help to sort the items as they arrive or wrapping gifts. I literally walked into this charity event one year, a few years ago, and have done it ever since, even though I say every year that “I may go…I’m not sure yet if I’ll be up to it.” And, I tell myself I must go to sleep for a long day ahead. Then, I stay up all night exciting thinking. Alarm goes off to  go, and the phrase again comes in my head. But, I go. Afterwards, I’m glad I did it.
Bonus incentive to help: you may meet me. But, don’t let that prospect scare you off the event entirely, I’ll only say hi if you’re not frightened. 😉

If you’re not in the area, well…give to a local charity…you never know of what may come of the good you do until you get out there and do it! 🙂

A Hump Day Halloween

A mid-week creepy holiday it is today, and I’m without any plans. I don’t know which is scarier (or lamer). I love Halloween, and have many memories of activities I’ve done, memorable characters/places I’ve invented. Naturally, I’m running around like a chicken with its head cut off by not having something to do.

So, I blog.
One thing Halloween reminds me of are getting scared…or pretending to be by movies, television, etc. Some of my favorites over the years include:
–the master, Stephen King, and his many books and movies, particularly Carrie (oooo, blood), Pet Semetary (kids with knives and reincarnated kitties *shudders*), It (They all float! [insert evil laughter] )
–Anne Rice, and all her studious writing of vampires, not really scary but sure can make you care about the undead
–and, speaking of the undead, how could one ever for get a certain vampire slayer named Buffy, and her gorgeous vampire boyfriend (how hot was he?! yummy! )
–Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds..ewww, almost every time I see black birds congregating, I’m reminded of that creepy movie with no ending. *triple shudder*
–Nightmare on Elm Street 1 and 3…aside from Scream or a certain mock documentary called The Blair Witch Project, best for a silly scare. The rest [of the Nightmare movies] were pretty lame, but oh how I remember that song with an evil grin. “1, 2 Freddy’s coming for you, 3,4 better lock your doors, 5,6 grab your crucifix, 7,8 gonna stay up late, 9,10 never sleep a-gain!”  That burned-up freak was definitely good for some entertainment, like making barrels of blood come through a bed and licking the blood off a stick that impaled him.

–Thomas Harris and his creation of Dr. Hannibal Lecter aka Hannibal the Cannibal (Silence of the Lambs, Hannibal, Red Dragon). Though the movie pre-quels aren’t near as good as the books, Sir Anthony Hopkins played him beautifully on screen, and when I (re)read the books I am chilled with evil delight. Pass the Fava beans and Chianti.

There’s oh-so-much-more of which to talk, of course, but I’ve run out of time for now, so I shall say “adieu” to you all, or really “See you later” (I’d say it in German but I always forget how to properly spell it *lol*).
~~~~Happy Halloween!~~~~
