The PearLady presents her weekend report

In the spirit of Zazu from The Lion King
[cue music: “The Morning Report” from the above movie title]

What I accomplished this week:

I found another great site, namely the Christian Bookshelf Reviews, which led me to even more book challenges (God help me – LOL). It also led me to post here again to the world.

What I’m reading:

The Potluck Club Troubles Brewing (The Potluck Club, Book 2)

What I finished reading:

Beauty and the Beast   The Sound of Sleigh Bells

Reviews, what I have of them, are at GoodReads. Unfortunately, my words cannot catch up with my feelings at the moment. Nevertheless. I have enjoyed reading another Cindy Woodsmall book, although not quite as much as her Sisters of the Quilt series. I’m excited that I can finally continue with the Potluck Club series. This second book picks up right where the first one left things, so despite the length of the whole series, the best experience is to read them all. So, onward I continue! I found Beauty and the Beast via Kobo e-books. It’s a cute little read; not as glamorous as the Disney movie version (story is slightly different, too), but it’s cute just the same. That’s one checked off for the e-book challenge.
The biggest news in my library is joining a few more challenges (Outdo yourself  / challenge addict challenge). These new challenges kind of overlap with what I’m doing, so I don’t think it’ll be too much an inconvenience. We shall see.
Winking smile
What have you accomplished this week? If the answer makes you cringe, you always have tomorrow (and if tomorrow never comes, it doesn’t matter anyway, eh). Anyway, see ya in cyberspace.

It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Yeah! Oh, how I wish I can show you all how my lights turned out, but my camera won’t cooperate. So, we’ll have to exercise our imaginations.
[insert twinkling white and colored lights making pretty star and cross patterns]
Christmas Eve fast approaches…which means (for me) going out to see other peoples’ lights, and of course, Christmas service. Oh, and Santa, too. I await my lump of coal with much anticipation. >}:-)
Santa Writing Smiley

Since I couldn’t do the pictures, I’ve found…something else. Yes, you’ll see it’s a meme, but one with a possibly really cool outcome for someone (dare to dream it’d be me).  It’s the Book Binge Christmas contest!

The Christmas Season is upon us and we have one burning question: Have you been naughty or nice this year? Regardless of your answer, we are inviting our lovely readers a chance to win an eBookwise eReader!

All you have to do is answer a few simple (okay, 10) questions on your blog/journal and leave the link to your Meme in this post. If you don’t have a blog or journal, you can email us your answers. The winner will be chosen on January 5th, so you can enter up until 11:59pm on January 4th.

Here we go…A Christmas Meme:
1. What is your favorite Christmas romance to re-read each year?
well, it’s not “romantic” technically, but I do enjoy the classic Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
2. What is your favorite Christmas movie/show?
I’ve several, but one that always makes me smile… “A Christmas Story”
3. What is your favorite Christmas cookie?
Hmm. Sugar cookies, decorated, of course.
4. When do you start Christmas shopping?
All year…if I see a good buy, I’ll get it. But, I don’t really do Christmas shopping like the media hypes every year.
5. Do you re-gift?
Not really, unless it’d be really something I couldn’t use but someone else could. I wouldn’t want the item to go to waste.
6. What is your favorite Christmas song?
Again, I’ve several that would take pages to list (LOL) 3 Faves include: Adestes Fidelis, Silent Night, Joy to the World.
7. When do you get your Christmas tree?
After Thanksgiving.
8. Wrapping presents: Love it or hate it?
Love it, but I am a perfectionist about it sometimes which can be tedious.
9. Who is the hardest person to buy for?
male friends and relatives
10. Christmas tree: Real or artificial?
I really like the smell of a a fresh tree, but nothing beats the ease of artificial (and saves a tree, too *smile*)

Oh, that’s a really good way to get one’s memories to come up to the surface and warm one’s heart. I hope you enjoyed this little trip down meme lane with me. And, if you’d like to “play”, too, click the above link. Even if you don’t want to play, click anyway. There’s a LOT to see one this site in regards to books, and book lovers everywhere.

The peanut gallery opens now. The elves also want me to remind everyone to try not to make too big a mess as you type your words in the comments section.

I don’t know why they wanted me to say that, other than to encourage more people on the “good list”.  They should know I’ve a vacuum cleaner handy, just in case. Silly elves. Happy Christmas, Seasons Greetings, and all…. that…. jazz! (I’m channeling the musical Chicago all of a sudden. LOL)

Muttering on Sunday – Free Association #150

mutteringsredanim “Oh, boy, yet another meme”. No, wait, it’s not quite as it’s appears. It’s a “Free Association” exercise. Yes, I’m using this meme, but only as an exercise to build up my writing/cognitive skills, as well as somewhat control my jumbled thoughts, not for fishing for something of which to write. And, because I like to see what I may think of spontaneously – do watch out for combustibles. 😛

The deal of the day is word association: what does one think instantly when a word is presented. Hmm, let’s see, shall we?

  1. Toasty :: Warm (or Quizno’s Subs, but only because I think I’ve seen those ads once too often lately – LOL)
  2. Allegations :: accusations without proof (when did this become “define me hour – c’mon self, I’ve to do better than this. Whom are you, OJ or is lawyer?)
  3. Herb :: Oregano (spaghetti, anyone?)
  4. Bacon :: Cheeseburger (bad fattening combo – yuck)
  5. Neck to neck :: Game (reminds me of that game where one passes a ball to another person without the use of hands)
  6. Simon :: Says You’re Outta Here (I’ve watched too much Idol. Oy Vey!)
  7. Heels :: Shoes (high ones hurt feet / ankles)
  8. Fundamentals :: Flag corps (Have to do the basics, teaching them is fun)
  9. Middle :: Finger
  10. Seasonings :: Spices

Okay, that exercise brought out something in me, but what it brought out is questionable. Word #9 appears I have the desire to flip someone off, or maybe said person(s) flipped me off recently. The others are equally obvious, even without my comments. *shrugs* I may re-visit this word set later. We’ll see.

Have something to say? Say it now, or forever hold your peace. ;P
